Student Loans

The University of Sydney has a number of loan and bursary funds to assist students experiencing financial difficulties.
Student loans are granted by the Financial Assistance Office, Student Services Unit.
Revenue Services is responsible for:

  • Maintaining the loans ledger by entering students details, loans and receipts into the Accounts Receivable System,
  • Reconciling the student loans accounts every month,
  • Issuing reminder and collection letters to students,
  • Advising Student Services and Dean of Faculty of outstanding loans and bad debts to be written off.

Student loans are not intended to provide ongoing income support or payment of fees, but to help in emergencies and to supplement other income. Loans are available for essential living and studying expenses such as textbooks, uniforms, bills and rent.

Students interested in applying for a loan or other financial assistance should visit the Financial Assistance Office website.
